About The Artist

Born in Wichita Kansas, Athelius D. Pearson is a product of a family of 12 brothers and sisters. Being raised in an industrial farm town limited his exposure to the arts. However, in his late 20's Athelius established an interest in visual art and began to explore self-expression using varying mediums. It is through this exploration that he established his signature styles of 2d work, which include oil and acrylic on canvas and polished copper. Athelius's subject matter reflects African American History, early jazz culture, family, African culture, and life in the abstract. His body of work has been viewed at a number of galleries and spaces which include, but are not limited too, the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Jazz Festival New Orleans, and the Annual Essence Festival. ​
